Site Help

Laterallife is continually striving to make its website more inclusive and to provide access to all visitors regardless of technological or physical disability.

We have:

Large Text Options
buttons at the top of each page to ensure those who are partially sighted are able to view pages in clear text.

Adobe Acrobat Reader (PDF) files
We use this as much as possible to provide important documents to the public. Although traditionally PDF documents have been a barrier to visitors with a disability, Adobe now provide a range of Assistive Technology tools to help in using them. If you have a disability and have difficulty reading Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files, visit Adobe's accessibility pages at www.adobe.com/enterprise/accessibility| The Adobe website contains comprehensive resources designed to help people with disabilities use Adobe Acrobat software more effectively.

Flash Player
How to access this site with assistive devicesIn addition to HTML, Laterallife.com features content in SWF formats. If you are having difficulty accessing this content with your assistive device, Laterallife suggests you upgrade to the latest version of the Adobe® Flash® Player runtime for SWF content.

For users with mobility impairments, it is important to update your version of Flash Player; early versions prevented users from tabbing between the navigation bar and links elsewhere on the page. You can download the latest version of Flash Player.

Visual Design
As part of the ongoing maintenance of the website, every effort is made to ensure that the visual design can be successfully experienced by all visitors. The visual design is simple allowing the user to easily navigate around and we do not use excessive, colours or images or different fonts as this would confuse.

Alternative Text for Pictures
There is alternative text provided where appropriate and a long description tag, where needed.

Colours
The design makes use of colours that provide maximum contrast between foreground and background items. All page content is presented with a white background and black primary text. The colour scheme is in accordance with the NHS guidelines.

Browsers
The design has been tested using a variety of different browsers, both modern and old, to ensure that it can be viewed by the largest number of visitors possible. It has been tested in IE 5.5 and above, and firefox.

W3C Compliance
This website has been designed in accordance with the World Wide
Web Consortium's (W3C) internationally recognised Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines. The WAI is a set of guidelines for producing usable and accessible websites. There are three levels of web accessibility under the initiative - "A", "AA" and "AAA".  Detailed information about the WAI can be found at www.w3.org/WAI
